ABOUT OUR SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

Over the course of the last 100 years, plastic has become a revolutionary invention that has taken over many industries and is in almost everything  - cars, clothes, houses, electronics, furniture, etc. More recently it has become a popular material to be used for disposable products and packaging (items meant to be thrown away).  However, plastic takes around 500 - 1000 years to break down if not recycled and only 8% of plastic has ever been recycled.

In the last 10 years, the packaging industry has become the largest market and accounts for over 40% of plastic used.  Which has increased the ocean's plastic waste tremendously.

Where does Orera come into play?  Orera Technology aims to reduce our single-use plastic packaging intake by offering sustainable and affordable packaging alternatives.  There is no perfect solution to the plastic problem but there are undoubtedly better options that will help improve the wellbeing of our environment.

BAGASSE PACKAGING

Bagasse is a dry, fibrous residue leftover from sugarcane stalks that have been crushed for the extraction of their juice. This pulp can be used for the production of paper, food packaging, boxes, and egg cartons. Compared to the conventional CPET (Crystalline Polyethylene Terephthalate) and aluminum, bagasse has clear advantages, particularly the ability to compost and reduce our carbon footprint. The bagasse products are easily molded by high pressured heat pressed machines.

Introduced at a time of need, our new abaca face masks are here to help protect you, your community, and our planet. Made from 100% abaca fiber these masks are highly sustainable and are the perfect solution to help fight a global health pandemic at the time of an environmental crisis. Abaca is a native banana tree in the Philippines and its fiber has been pulped for tea bags, paper, banknotes, etc for many years in the Philippines.  It now serves a new purpose for effective and sustainable disposable face masks.
